So it turns out I’m Superman!

Emboldened by the refresh I had undertaken recently on my wife’s website I made a rather impulsive suggestion which turned into a very real practicality. In my enthusiasm I announced to N. that for the next week I was going to draw all the feature images to her posts.

“Why just for the next week?”she asked me, “Why not just do it on an ongoing basis?”

As is normal, in my head, I try to rationalize how this situation could play out in real life. What are the implications on my time, on our relationship, on the very fabric of our marriage. The following line sums up pretty much how that thought process went;

“What if we worked together, you know, like a husband and wife team…………… like Lois Lane and Clark Kent!”

As some of you may already know, I’m addicted to my ipad, I’m not afraid to admit it. It’s the single most life altering piece of technology I’ve ever bought, more so than any computer or phone. It just changes the way I do things. It’s become my right hand man, my go too guy for innovation. So much so that it nuzzles at my neck each night from it’s perch on my bedside table, much to N’s chargrin.

I had known for a while that I wanted to use my iPad seriously, to start sketching and doodling on it with the intent of graduating to producing some valid work. I’d been playing around with a couple of apps, doodling here and there but never really trying to create anything on a regular basis. The only worthwhile piece I had created was a rough portrait of N. which I worked on a little more over time to form the basis for her blog’s masthead. Where it now sits in pride of place.

So the iPad was the chosen tool for this project. I two different apps to try out, Brushes and Sketchbook Pro. I’m not going. I’m not going to try to review these two apps here, many more have reviewed them in much more depth and talent than I could. Suffice to say I decided to use with Brushes, primarily for it’s simplicity.

So here I am one month later, I’ve kept my promise on all but 3 occasions. I have now created 8 images for 8 posts (although two were duplicates with minor edits) and I have to admit I’m enjoying it. In light of this I thought I’d put together a small gallery of my work so far. As always feedback positive, or negative, is happily accepted.
